Level 3 Technician's Certificate Syllabus

The ABC/AA Technician’s Certificate is well recognised throughout the industry as an arboricultural manager’s qualification. Suitable for those wishing to work as assistant tree officers or to gain experience in consultancy work. A new syllabus was introduced for the 2005/06 exams.

Q: should I still continue to take the Technician’s Certificate while the qualifications are changing in the near future?

A: the Technician's Certification is so well recognised in the industry that it will remain a valuable qualification no matter what happens with the new syllabus. We are already working hard to ensure that the industry recognises both qualifications as the same. We see no harm therefore in taking the qualification under the current syllabus - at the start this will be the qualification most recognised in any case as opposed to the new qualification title. It is for this reason that many candidates are signing up with us for the last year of the Technician's Certificate.

Please call if you have any concerns or wish to discuss the changes further.

A separate 3 day preparatory course is offered in September for those candidates who are successful in the written stage of the examinations. (see 3 day prep page.)
